New Senior Housing Community Coming to North Olmsted

15 July 2005
Catholic Charities of Cleveland is pleased to announce the planned development of Emerald Village, a new senior housing retirement community to be built in North Olmsted. Situated adjacent to the Church of St. Clarence at 30106 Lorain Road, Emerald Village will offer both independent and assisted living apartments for area seniors.
"We are blessed to see Emerald Village begin right next to the Church of St. Clarence campus," says Father Neil P. Kookoothe, church Administrator. "A retirement community is the ideal next step in our growth of a family- and community-focused ministry." Construction at Emerald Village is tentatively scheduled for the Spring of 2006. When completed, Emerald Village will be managed and operated by St. Augustine Health Campus, an area leader in care and services for the elderly.
Comprising more than 100,000 square feet on three levels, Emerald Village will offer contemporary retirement living in 100 independent living apartments and 30 assisted living units. Common areas throughout Emerald Village will include a two-story grand foyer entry, a spacious dining room, the café, a chapel, a barber/beauty salon and additional multi-purpose rooms throughout the building. Emerald Village will also offer a range of additional services, including meals, housekeeping and transportation. Independent apartments will be featured in a variety of floorplans that include one- and two-bedroom units with ample living space, walk-in closets and full kitchens. Assisted living units will come in both studio and one-bedroom styles.
Unlike many other area retirement communities, Emerald Village will not charge entrance fees. Pat Gareau, President and CEO at St. Augustine Health Campus, explains, "We wanted to build a retirement community in the North Olmsted area that didn't require a huge upfront investment for our residents." Many communities sometimes charge a one-time entrance fee that can range from $75,000 to $200,000. Emerald Village, by contrast, will charge only a monthly service fee that includes apartment rent, utilities, and a range of additional services. "You don't have to spend an exceptional amount to have an exceptional lifestyle at Emerald Village," says Gareau.
